About Rezz Radio
Rezz Radio is a local production that has been in service for seven years. The programming is developed, written and produced by students at the Hannahville Indian School / Nah Tah Wahsh PSA.
The high school and middle school students produce the half-hour radio show in a classroom at the school. The show is then broadcast on the local (off reservation) radio station, The Eagle 107.3. The show’s focus is to help build understanding between the Indian community and general public through Native music (both traditional and contempory), interviews, cultural information and stories. Potawatomi language is integrated into portions of each show. Locally and nationally produced health related commericials created by students are an additional contribution to the show. And finally, national Native American news, community news, and school news round out the overall programming.

Students School Year Prep for Broadcasting
When show content has been completed and storyboarded, students then create the Rezz Radio productions on a MacIntosh desktop computer with Garage Band audio editing software. The last steps before the final cut for broadcasting involves intensive fine tuning of each production.
Plans are also on the drawing board to start producing Rezz Radio podcasts in the near future. While this may increase the production work load a bit, the radio show team sees this as an exciting advantage to reach listeners who may be outside the normal boundaries of the radio show's airwave range.
Leadership Through Service
Rezz Radio is just one of the projects sponsored by the Corporation of National and Community Service under Learn and Serve America.
Hannahville Indian School / Nah Tah Wahsh PSA programs include several ongoing culturally relevant service learning projects. Through the Learn and Serve Project, students have been serving their community as part of their classroom studies for 15 years. In addition to Rezz Radio, another project has been the mosaic math wall (in the high school math classroom), which took three years to complete. It depicts math and science activities at the school, as well as Potawatomi and other tribal culture.
Another project, funded by a grant from GTE, is maple syrup and sugar production as part of science classes. This activity helps preserve a longtime Native tradition – the syrup is given to tribal elders and school visitors. Learn and Serve has been very effective in helping students evolve responsibility for developing all the behaviors associated with their culture (called the Seven Grandfathers Teachings which include respect, truth, honesty, patience, humility, bravery, and love)."
